Summer CTE Team Learns Career-Boosting Skills

Summer internships are common in the business world, but over the years, we discovered they aren’t offered very often in our industry.

It’s a missed opportunity – our community if full of young individuals who are interested in transportation and logistics as a career path, learning about supply chain and management or simply wanting to learn the ins and outs of a structured environment.

This summer, we’ve welcomed five bright young minds – some returning workers and others brand new – to work in our offices and warehouses. They bring a hard-working, curious energy to our team, and are willing to jump in whenever we need them, learn our business and have some fun along the way.

Meet our awesome team of summer workers!

Carson Harp

Carson, 20, has been with us several summers and even comes to work with us in the winter when he’s home from Northern State University. He’s working on a degree in Construction Management, so it’s helpful for him to see how team members and temps are managed, what a fast-paced environment looks like and how even the odd jobs help keep the business humming.

“I like learning new things. There’s a new problem to solve every day!” Carson says. Carson’s favorite part of the job is when he gets to operate the forklift. Carson is also the stepson of Milo Davis, our distribution manager.

Drew Engstrom

Drew, 20, is a law student at the University of Arizona, and he says CTE is the perfect place for him to do something completely different during the summer. It’s his first summer with CTE, and when he saw a job posting on Facebook, he decided to apply. Drew appreciates the set hours, and the friendliness of the staff.

Paul Graham

Solving problems and dealing with several moving parts at one time are Paul’s favorite aspects of the job. Paul, 19, is studying engineering at The University of British Columbia, which is why he enjoys the problem-solving aspect of CTE so much. It helps that he feels welcomed by the rest of the team, too. “Everyone here is accepted. It’s a positive environment and everyone works well together,” Paul says.

Connor Elsworth

Connor, 19, is on his second summer here at CTE and is happy to be back in between semesters at Purdue University where he is studying video game development and computer science. Like Paul, he loves the problem-solving element of his work at CTE and loves seeing the team find new efficiencies in their day-to-day work.

Ian Engstrom

Word on the street is that CTE is the perfect college summer job, said Ian, 18. “I heard through the grapevine that it was a fun place to work for the summer with a nice environment,” he recalled. Ian is studying economics at Chapman University in California.

Thank you to all of our hard-working college students! We are so happy to be a small part in helping bring up the next generation of leaders.
